Spinal cord injuries happen when the spinal cord is subjected to extreme trauma, which either damages the nerves, or in the worst situations, severs the actual cord.

The most common causes of spinal cord trauma are from motor vehicle and motorcycle accident. However, such injuries may occur from falls, shootings, or even recreational activities.
